Laugh about it, shout about it
The mayoral debate at Hart House tonight was quite something. The kids over at my old stomping grounds Torontoist live-blogged the whole affair, so go do some reading for the general overview and then come back and I'll snark it up.

Ok. So one thing TOist didn't mention is that during the Kevin Clarke debacle, Jane Pitfield (admirably, I thought, but I'm still not voting for her) went over to him herself to have a chat with him. What was the first thing Mr. Clarke said to her? "Do you put your husband's penis in your mouth every night?" Nice. Ms. Pitfield bore it with equanimity, though. She simply walked away. I was shocked that his question didn't constitute grounds for removal, but clearly U of T's policies on such things are kind of retarded.
Out in the hall, a surprising majority seemed in favour of Clarke being thrown out and beaten. The best overheard of the night came to the ears of JennyLynn (my partner in debating mayhem) from the lips of an otherwise demure gal petitioning for a tuition freeze: "My boyfriend and his band would totally throw him out back and kick the shit out of him."
As for the debate itself, well, Miller is clearly the best at this. He's smart and charismatic and, as a figurehead of Toronto, he makes us look good.
Stephen LeDrew, on the other hand, is a moron who looks like Sam the Eagle (for real, do a google image search). He didn't answer his questions properly (and not even in the sneaky politician way, but in a bumblingly obvious idiotic way), and I actually have no idea what his platform is, other than to "change things". He gives off the creepy vibe of every archetypal hatable douchebag authority figure (think high school principals from '80s movies). You just want to throw a pie in his face.
